Growth & Retention

I hate to say it, but now that the semester is coming to a close, you need to start worrying about getting people to renew their memberships for next year.

Our region’s retention rate is 50%, the highest out of all regions. But our growth rate is 27%, which is  lower than the 31% national average. We need to work on ideas to grow our membership for next year. Use them to start planning for the fall.

Here are some ideas to get the membership drive juices flowing:

  • Visit engineering students in their dorm room (personal contact!)
  • Hold a meeting in an engineering residence hall
  • Alumni visits to share their experiences
  • Free t-shirts (great publicity!)
  • Free lunch (eat together, meet people)
  • Mail out letters or I-Miss-You postcards
  • Send thank-yous to people who come to meetings!
  • Treasure hunts
  • Raffles for people who pay their dues
  • Introduce people
  • Host special paid-members-only events
  • Hold separate events for under- and upper-classmen
