My name is Ritu Raman and I’m writing on behalf of the Graduate Society of Women Engineers (GradSWE) at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Last year, GradSWE at Illinois hosted its inaugural conference for graduate women in STEM fields, entitled weSTEM – Women Empowered in STEM. Women engineers and scientists with advanced degrees shared experiences from their academic and professional career paths, providing insight into their personal successes in STEM.
We have expanded the 2014 weSTEM conference to contain two keynote lectures, dual-track session talks, break-out discussion forums, and social networking sessions. We are also extending the invitation to female graduate students around the country to attend weSTEM 2014, and hope students from other universities will be able to join us. Applications to attend the conference will be open from January 15, 2014 to February 28, 2014 and some opportunities for travel funds will be available. All graduate students in STEM programs who are National SWE members are invited to apply.
To learn more about the conference and to apply, please visit our website, www.weSTEMillinois.com. Additionally, feel free to contact myself or GradSWE Director, Samantha Knoll (firstname.lastname@example.org) with any questions. We look forward to hearing from you and hope to see you at weSTEM 2014!
